the power of the tongue

Who would ever think that words can play a colossal role in your genetics?  It is said that the words that you speak have great power.  They have a way of bringing things into existence.  In the beginning God created the entire earth with speech and thus the entire world was populated until this very day.  If we are all made in the image of GOD and we are GOD’s children then, why don’t we behave as such?  I hear many people speak ill of themselves and cast negative shadows over their lives when it comes to their health.  I’ve heard things like, “My grandmother had lupus and died at 60 so I’m sure that will happen to me.”  One of the more common phrases among males is, “My father started losing his hair when he was about 38 so I’m expecting the same thing when I get to my late thirties.”  If you we could comprehend the true power that words have I’m quite sure that everyone would be cautious of the words that they speak.  After all, who really wants to be sick?

There is one word that has been a strong factor in the lives of all humanity since the beginning of time and that word is called genetics.  Genetics is defined as biology, the science of heredity, dealing with resemblances and differences of related organisms resulting from the interaction of their genes and environment. Because of the misuse of the term genetics the world as a whole has become complacent with the idea that everything that happened to our parents or ancestors will happen to us, biologically speaking.  Surely genetics does a play a significant role in your life but they cannot define you if you have the proper mindset.  The naked truth is that if you were to decide to change your mind, your speech (to that of positive outlooks) and change your diet to a more nutritious diet you would have every honest expectation of avoiding all of the known “genetic pitfalls” that occur in your family.  When you are visiting a doctor’s office for the first time, what does that doctor ask you?  Besides the average medical history questions all doctors are required to ask you many questions about your family’s medical history.   This is not the fault of the doctors because they do as they are trained to do.  The reality of the situation is that your medical outcome can and should be entirely different from those who have come before you that suffered from predisposed genetic sickness.

The primary reason that anyone can shape their biological destiny is because of a very small yet misunderstood concept.  Disease has more to do with the  cultural aspect than it does with genetics.  This concept has been taught by Naturopath Dr. Joel Wallach for decades.  The logic behind this statement is very practical.  Wallach says that if you consume the same foods that one of your parents ate and they got cancer then it would be a reasonable assertion to believe that you too could get cancer. You are helping to increase your genetics disposition to certain illnesses if you eat the same way that your parents ate.  If you decided to eat different foods prepared in a healthier manner you could change your outcome.   Most families have traditional foods that have been passed down through generations so it is logical that everyone could or would attract the same illnesses from eating the same food over the years.  I do not aim to say that this is the case one hundred percent of the time because there are several cases where people have fell ill and they were eating healthy.

Outside of genetics there are other people who identify with certain illnesses and become demure to the idea that they contract

certain illnesses during specific times of the year.  I bet you know a person that gets a cold (or flu) during the same time of year every year and the first thing they say is, “I normally get sick around this time every year.”  They have made a big mistake in identifying themselves with a “timed yearly sickness” because their minds and tone of speech has decided so.  When you earnestly ponder the idea of a person having a yearly sickness you begin to see the absurdity of it all.  It is not probable that a person would get sick every year at the same time of year for their entire lives.

Eating the right foods will certainly give you an advantage in staying healthy but if you are to remain healthy it is imperative that you always think, feel and speak health into your existence.  If God could create the earth with words and you are created in his image then it is reasonable to believe that we can certainly control our lives by speaking life and health into everything we do.  We give too much credit to genetics.  Whoever said, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” was not being very truthful.  Words give life and destroy life.
